June, 2005 Shoebox Bookkeeping would like to welcome a new member to the team. Mary Sproule comes with considerable experience with accounting and hockey. These are two important attributes of Shoebox staff in this "Stanley Cupless" year. The staff are still finishing up taxes - sole proprietorships are due June 15. A new voice at the Shoebox. If you call the Shoebox you may have heard Jenn Robinson assisting and directing things from reception. Jenn is part of the tax prep staff but has enjoyed her time on the front. She has spelled Bruce off on many of the mornings after the long night before. Other news at the Shoebox Business Centre involves ICIS bidding adieu to our friend Dilsher Virk - he is heading to South America for some trekking. Peter Flagg has taken over as General Manager and he has gotten busy leading the project to build the cadastral network for BC. Kees van Linden Tol reports a busy Spring for Mastercare. MC was the successful bidder for the custodial contract at the new Save-on-Foods Centre here in Victoria. Several new jobs were created and many of the new employees visited the Business Centre to collect their payroll. Gareth Slocombe has also had a busy Spring. He is in Victoria for one full day each week now. He provides important trustee counseling sessions for his clients. February, 2005 A new year and business continues to improve. Now there are days to be counted before the 2010 Olympics which should prove to be the exclamation mark to this upswing for the province. Around the Shoebox much is improving and growing. Kees continues to build the Business Round Table. Wes has moved into his own site office on the east side of the building. Gerry wants another brisk run on the pitch but will watch for a while more as he overcomes some health challenges. Les has implemented his Power Pack for engaging staff and clients in projects. Janice and Dilsher and the ICIS Team continue to build their continuity with the "Gold Mine" system. Bob exceeds his own goals with a brisk re-mortgage market and low rates. Helen and the Shoebox Bookkeeping Team want you to look at the 2004 Tax Checklist as you begin gathering your papers for the year. Their EFile service to CCRA and the latest Profile software are ready and secure so they can begin to take tax return information. October, 2004 Back to school, back to work, back to business. The year appears busy for everyone associated with the Shoebox Business Centre. Congratulations to Cynthia and Per as new owner/operators of the Upper Deck Dining Room and Lounge located in the Travel Lodge on Gorge Road. McLaren Electric held the largest garage sale Victoria has ever seem, Sept25th. Island Displays were involved prominently and proceeds went to Rock Solid. Look for a Rock Solid mural project off the Galloping Goose under the Karate Centre next door. Wes-Co Solutions, better known to the Shoebox crowd as Wes Bull, has continued with development of new and better systems at the Shoebox. Wes will soon roll out an exciting series of services for the virtual office and telecommuting crowd. Helen has been testing this out, working remotely just as if she's in the office. She's looking forward to a few less Malahat commutes this winter. Kees von Linden Tol has found an interesting business concept Business Round Table. Janice Giuliani is coordinating membership. The sole proprietors are still rolling in with their taxes for Shoebox Bookkeeping and Helen and her group remain busy. That's the trend for everyone here and around the city - lets hope "politics" doesn't ruin this for us all. The Business Centre welcomes another long-term tenant in McLaren Electric (1975) Ltd. February, 2004 We've told enough stories to explain our Christmas Holiday and are back to work. Things continue on a major upswing at the box this new year. Another new face at the Shoebox this season - welcome to Gareth Slocombe, CA., trustee services, call 391-9404. Stewart MacAllister CA., resident enterpriser focuses on Calgary. Julie Nygaard moved Premiere Financial to main floor quarters. Janice Appleby is rounding larger ICIS facilities into production. Gerry Underhill and Peter Lee are seeing several investors now. Bob MacDonald moved upstairs and was greeted Flanders style, "Hi-didly-ho Neighbour"! Les Kowalski successfully rolled out AI software this quarter. Shoebox Bookkeeping is taking the Secrecy Act very seriously. Smart Books on Windows Enterprise Server 2003 is in beta testing. T4 and RRSP deadlines, continued lower interest rates and more strong clients will get us to Spring Break. Happy Valentines.
November, 2003 The closure of the Victoria Business Center and our reputation for quality service has translated into a month of tremendous change for the better at the Shoebox Business Centre. The warmest of welcomes are extended to Premiere Financial Services, Global Securities Corp. and Mastercare Janitorial. We bid farewell to Computer Industry USA. The Shoebox Business Centre can now claim to be a full service finance facility. But it's our new partners who have completed this picture: Global Securities provide investment services and Mortgage Intelligence residential mortgages, Premiere Financial payday loans while Shoebox Bookkeeping, small business and personal tax accounting while Stewart MacAllister C.A. specializes in mergers and acquisitions. Plans are afoot for a training facility from WesCo Computer Solutions and Shoebox Bookkeeping as well as a shipping/receiving facility on the ground floor. Add to this the excitement of digitally joining all mapping in BC, the goal of Dilsher Virk and his ICIS team and Real Time IT, Les Kowalski's Power Roadmap project nearing roll out - considerable new energy can be felt at the Shoebox Business Centre these days.
